The Best Crock Pot Gluten Free Beef Stew

Equipment

  • 1 Paring Knife
  • 1 Vegetable Piller
  • 1 Wooden Spoon
  • 1 Garlic press
  • 1 1 lb freezer bag

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 lbs Of Chuck Roast Beef Chuck Roast Beef or Round Roast with marbling.
  • 6-8 Russet Potatoes Yukon potatoes work as well
  • 4 Carrots Half bag of baby carrots if you choose instead.
  • 1/2 Bag of frozen pea's or 1 can of pea's
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 2 14.5 oz Cans of Italian Stewed Tomatoes 14.5 oz size
  • 1 1/3 cups Organic Beef Broth
  • 1/2 Cup of Gluten Free Flour King Arthur is what I used
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Glove of Crushed Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp Salt or season to taste
  • 1 tsp Pepper or season to taste
  • 1 Package of Gluten Free Gravy Powder Mix to add in an hour before stew is done
  • 2 tbsp Cut Up Fresh Parsley add to the top of stew when done cooking

Instructions
 

Cut up all vegetables, onions, blend stew tomatoes in a food processor or blender. Set aside to add later to the crock pot.

    In a plastic 1 lb freezer bag add gluten free flour, salt, and pepper, shake well. Place roast beef in the bag, shake and press flour in to the beef.

      In a skillet on low to medium heat add cut up onions, crushed garlic and olive oil. Place seasoned roast in pan, brown each side for 3 to 4 minutes or until lightly brown.

        Add browned roast beef to the crock pot, and then add in vegetables, pea's and blended stewed tomatoes.

          Sprinkle the rest of the seasonings on top of the stew mixture and add beef broth.

            Cover let cook for 6 to 8 hours on high or 10 to 12 hours on low stirring occasionally.

              When done serve over rice with warm bread and enjoy!

                Notes

                • In a skillet on medium to low heat add cut up onion's and olive oil.
                • next add to a 1 gallon freezer bag flour, salt and pepper, shake well.
                • Then place the roast beef in the bag and shake well pressing flour coating into the beef roast.
                • Place the roast in the skillet to brown for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
                • Add browned roast beef to the crock pot, cut up vegetables, peas, blended stewed tomato's and seasonings.
                • The rest of the seasonings salt and pepper can be sprinkled over the top of the beef stew, add in the peas, vegetables, stewed tomato's, and beef broth. Cover let cook 6 to 8 hours on high or 10 to 12 hours on low.
                • Tips:
                Chuck Roast and or Round Roast are a great roast to use when making beef stew.
                Potatoes: Russet and Yukon have the most starch and with give a thicken broth.
                Yellow onions are best in stews in soups because of their hearty taste.
                Olive oil has many different strengths but extra virgin olive oil has the lightest of taste.
                When making gluten free remember to check all ingredients making certain the product is gluten free.
                Brown or white rice are tasty with this stew.
