Welcome To My Christmas Home Tour 2023
I’m so excited to share my Welcome to my Christmas Home Tour 2023 blog post!
So Welcome To My Christmas Home Tour 2023!!!!
I really can’t believe how fast the month of December is going and Christmas is almost here!
This year I did keep my Christmas decorating simple. I started the season late by celebrating Thanksgiving longer than usual. It has put me behind for my 2023 Christmas decorating and the home tour!
This year I’m so excited about doing a 2023 Christmas collaboration with King of Christmas. I was gifted a flocked Christmas tree in exchange for 3 Instagram reels.
I got in on this late too! My Christmas tree arrived the evening that the first reel was due but I created a quick Christmas tree post on Instagram, and Santa made a special appearance. You can see this on my Instagram stories.
Once I saw my new King of Christmas Tree I knew the color scheme I was thinking would go beautifully with the flocking of the tree.
At the beginning of the season, I found the cutest Christmas wrapping paper the colors of the paper set the tone for my 2023 Christmas decor.
The Story of My Christmas 2023 Theme
Let me step back a minute, I found a picture at the closing of one of my favorite boutiques. There was an early Christmas sale because the boutique was closing and I found the most adorable picture at the sale. I just loved the color of the frame, it had artwork in the frame of 4 little birds and one bird had a crown on its head. So the color of the frame determined my color goals for Christmas 2023!
Have you ever designed your holiday around the color of a picture frame and picture lol!
The color of the frame is special to me because it was my mom’s favorite color blue. My mom always included this special blue in her Christmas decorations. This picture frame is that color blue! The artwork in the frame is of birds, well this is also special to me. My dad just loved birds and always fed them. Also, my third son Christopher always references he and his siblings as the birds, and will say the birds have flown the nest or the bird has landed if he’s arrived somewhere. I’m not sure if you know I have three sons and one daughter, and one of the birds in the artwork is wearing a crown. The boys have always referred to their little sister as their princess.
Finding this little frame with artwork during the Christmas season is so special to me! Later that same day I stopped at Target and I found the Christmas paper and ribbon in the same color blue! I feel like this is a God Wicks moment lol!
So hence my Christmas decor color for the 2023 season!
Decorating My Christmas Home
I love to decorate for Christmas but this year I felt the need for simpler decor and less. I think because it just has been a loud year lol! I’ve also been working on projects and decluttering around the house. So I felt the need for fewer decorations to keep a more minimal look.
Every year I include a Christmas tree in almost every room. Even if it’s a small Christmas tree. I always put a Christmas tree in my bedroom as well. I don’t have the floor space but I place it on my dresser in front of the mirror. It always looks so beautiful but this year I kept it simple.
This season for 2023 keeping with less is more, I have decorated my home with lots of Christmas greens. I used faux pine, spruce, fir, and boxwood. Having asthma has kept me from adding real Christmas greens to my home. I do use a few different seasoned mildly scented candles around the house so we still get the smell of fresh greens. I think Christmas smells are a lovely touch to add to any home during the holidays.
Another item I used to decorate my home for Christmas was a ribbon. I think ribbon just dresses up everything for the holidays. Ribbon also makes the prettest of statements.
Adding Christmas Through Out The Home
I just love to add Christmas throughout my whole home. Adding little touches here and there goes a long way making it feel extra special for the season.
I’ve added touches of green, white, silvers, blues, and some sage to my home for the season. My Christmas tree has touches of all of these colors. I’ve also added pretty birds to my tree to keep with my theme, to go along with my special picture. I tied ribbons to the end of the branches of my Christmas tree and added ribbon tucked into the tree as well. This year I used my mercury glass Christmas ornaments on the tree and throughout my home. I thought they would look lovely with the flocked Christmas tree.
Last year I shared a post on the best way to decorate a Christmas tree https://houseofmar.com/the-best-way-to-decorate-a-christmas-tree/
Christmas In The Foyer
Christmas in the foyer starts my holiday tour. This area always stays the same for Christmas. I added our family’s handmade manger and our Christmas nativity set, it’s placed on top of the bureau. I adore it with faux greens and some faux snow. I sometimes add a little sparkle with small silver ornaments or a little string of mini lights.
You can read all about how I changed how the nativity set here.https://houseofmar.com/how-to-update-a-vintage-nativity-set/
A Simple Elegant Christmas Tree
My home has an open floor plan and you can see just about every room from the foyer. With my home being so open I like the Christmas decor to coordinate. This year in keeping with my simple theme I used a smaller tree than I usually use. As soon as you step into our home you can see the Christmas tree. The King of Christmas tree that I was gifted is perfect! It’s such an elegant petite tree but shows so very well. I did raise the tree some because I have over 20 feet of high ceilings in my great room. It looks beautiful in the room and was so simple to put up! I added mercury glass ornaments, birds, and a few lighted ornaments to the branches.
Adding Ribbon To The Christmas Tree
I also added ribbon throughout the Christmas tree by weaving the ribbon in and out of the branches. There are ribbons tied to the ends of the branches as well. I like how the ribbon gives the tree color and depth.
Christmas In The Great Room
Christmas in the great room followed along with my very simple theme but I still wanted my home to feel a little elegant. I added faux greens to the fireplace mantle and a beaded simple string of lights. I also placed one of my large mercury glass ornaments from Pottery Barn on top of the mantel and adorned it with a pretty ribbon. The color of the ribbon coordinates with the other ribbon that I have used throughout my home.
I did work on a little crafty Christmas project this year and I painted my mercury glass Christmas trees a chalky white color. I love the way they look! I placed them on the coffee table on a tray that I also painted with spray paint. Adding some faux greens gave this little display a seasonal Christmas feel!
One Christmas Item I like to use around my home is Christmas bulbs. I like to add ribbons through the finial at the top of the bulb. It dresses the ornament and then I place them throughout my home on tables, by the lamps, in the bathrooms, and such.
Christmas In The Dinning
Our dining room is right off our home’s foyer and it’s a room I enjoy decorating. I wanted the dining room to have a little elegance. It’s not a very big room so I am limited in how I can decorate it so I do more of a tablescape decor for the seasons. This year I brought back my vintage dough bowl and I filled it with mercury glass ornaments, and faux greens and I added a bird to the bowl. I also added white-washed charger plates, silver napkin rings with gray napkins, and a little spruce twig to each napkin. Adding a little Christmas to the china cabinet with faux greens, and ornaments finished off my Christmas dining room.
Kitchen Christmas Decor
I don’t like to have too many Christmas decorations on the counters in the kitchen, but I do add a few. I added decor In the eating area by adding faux greens with ribbons to the sconces. I also added some silver beads for a little bling! I also wanted to share my favorite Christmas gluten-free cookie recipe seeing as we are talking about the kitchen.

Christmas in the Bedrooms and Bathrooms
To continue my Welcome To My Christmas Home Tour 2023
I love to add a little Christmas to our bedrooms and bathrooms as well. Usually, I put a tree in each bedroom, even if it’s a small tree. This year I kept it simple and added faux greens and mercury bulbs in bowls and placed them on the dressers. I also placed a few faux fur throws on the beds and added velvet pillowcases. This time of year I like to add faux furs and velvets to our bedding, especially at Christmas time. I think it gives the room warmth.
I added a little touch of Christmas green to a few wall pictures, bowls of wintery mixes were added to my tables in the hallways. I also added green throws to the guest room, the boy’s previous room, and a green bedspread to the other guest room, my daughters old room. Adding these warm touches such as the velvet pillow shams, faux fur throw blankets keep each room feeling like a cozy Christmas wonder!
For the bathrooms, I add Christmas-scented liquid soaps to the dispensers, Christmas hand towels, and of course a little bit of greenery! Because I host some of the holidays I like to have Christmas hand towletts handy for our guests. When a guest uses the hand soap they smell the seasonal scent and then dry their hands on Christmas toweletts, I think they feel the Christmas season!
Christmas Outside
Our Christmas decorations outside this year are very minimal compared to previous years. I placed Christmas wreaths with bows on our coach lights. Bows were added to my topiarys on the front porch as well as battery-operated mini lights. Our large snowman that lights up was placed on the porch for a Christmas feel! This year we did not add lights to the bushes or trees instead we added the Christmas spotlights. The lights dance all over the front of our house. My husband likes these lights. Between you and me, my thought is because there is no fuss to put them up so this is why he likes the lights. I also added just a little green to our patio area with Christmas wreaths and lantern candles. When I’m in the kitchen I like to look out through our door wall and see the touches of Christmas.
