How To Find Information On Recent Food Recalls

How To Find Information On Recent Food Recalls is a post I want to share with you today. This is a post you will want to save.

It seems like everyday there is a food recall on either fresh, frozen, meat, and or dairy, and lets not forget medications. It’s daunting trying to keep up with the different news sources and social media postings.

I decided to do a little research and found some web-sites that share updates on the most recent food recalls. Most of these sites have an app to add to your phone so you can receive updates on the most recent recalls.

If you have been following for awhile you know I eat gluten free because I have Celiac Disease. If you didn’t know you can read all about it here. I also share how it was a journey to find out that I had Celiac Disease.https://houseofmar.com/going-gluten-free/

I also have other food allergies and food intolerance so I need to make sure that I keep up on food recalls and changing ingredients in the products I buy. My son also has food allergies and food intolerance so it has always been important for me to keep a careful watch on ingredients and recalls.

I receive the most emails from readers asking questions about my recipes and gluten free products so I know there are many of us that need to keep up on food ingredients and recalls.

So let’s talk about how we find this information to help us stay healthy and safe.

How To Find Information On Recent Food Recalls

These web-sites share the most up to date information on food recalls.

FoodSafety.gov

This website is a central hub for food recalls and outbreaks, providing information from the USDA and FDA.

Recalls.gov

This website offers a comprehensive view of recalls, including food, and allows you to subscribe to email alerts.

USDA Food Safety And Inspection Services ( F.S.I.S.)

The USDA website focuses on recalls related to meat, poultry, and egg products.

FDA Data Dashboard

  • https://datadashboard.fda.gov/oii/index.htm/ https://datadashboard.fda.gov/oii/index.htm

This web site:

Allows you to filter and view recall data at a more granular level.

Food Industry Council

This website provides a list of recent food recalls, including those related to specific companies and ingredients.

Adding these web-sites to an app on your phone is a great way to find out about recent food recalls.

How To Add An App To Your Phone For Information On Recent Food Recalls:

There are two free apps I have added to my phone for food recalls. You can use these apps with an Apple or Android phone.

  • The first app is by SmartAddress, inc: It includes FDA, USDA and pet food recalls. It’s by SmartAddress, Inc. The link below can be used as a download on your computer. The app can be found in you app settings on your smart phone. Its free in the app settings and it can also be downloaded to an I pad.

  • A Second app is Consumer Product Safety Commission or ( CPSC)

https://www.cpsc.gov

It is a stand-alone mobile app that enables the public to search for product recalls. This is also free and in the app’s setting on the smart phone and or android.

The CPSC ( Consumer Product Safety Commission ) shares more than just food recalls, it shares recent recalls on consumer products such as work out equipment , children products, and also making sure products are safe for use.

You can also sign up for emails to receive safety information about recalls.

Dont want to use a smart phone you can receive emails about recalls
Stop Food Born Illness is another site that shares information about recalls. You can sign up for emails and alerts to receive information from this site.

Medication / Medicine Sites for Recalls:

There are special sites dedicated to medication/ medicine recalls. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration the (F.D.A) does monitor medications as well. It is a primary resource for this information. Retailers such as Walgreens, C.V.S or your local pharmacy should also offer medication recalls on their websites. Also don’t hesitate to call and check on your medications safetyness with your pharmacy.

Here are a few other sites you may use to check on medicines.

The U.S. Drug Administration is a good site to check on medication recalls. There is a space bar when you open the app and you type in your medication and it shares if there is a recall on this certain medication.https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts

Recalls. Gov is the official website for medication recalls. Six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together to create www.recalls.gov. This site is updated regularly.

Recalls.gov: https://www.fda.gov/

Manufacturer’s Website: The manufacture of the medication will also place the recall on it’s website and you may call the manufacture of the medication in question as well.

Did you know that the FDA has a Twitter and post recalls on their own social media. They share recalls on medication/medicine.

FDA’s Twitter: if you don’t have a Twitter account it’s pretty easy to sign up, this web-site will help you to sign up for a Twitter account. You’ll be able to keep an eye on recalls from the site.

With the many changes happening and procedures to many of the agencies that watch our food and drugs it is so important to make sure we are taking a role to keep ourselves safe and healthy. I hope that what I have shared will help to keep you up to date on our food and medication recalls for our safety.

Blessings!

Mary Anne,

Thank you to the photographers that took these pictures that I’m sharing today,
