Do You Need To Be Eating Gluten Free
Do you need to be eating gluten free? Have you been told you need to eat gluten free.
Are you just so unsure if you are willing to start eating gluten free.
Or are you afraid eating gluten free means giving up so many great foods, seasonings and recipes?
I know and understand, because I’ve been that person!
If you are this person, I have some great information to share with you! It’s really not that hard to eat gluten free!
I’ve been doing it for 13 years!
Oh, it was hard in the beginning because 13 years ago going gluten free was not the same as going gluten free now!
Today there are so many products to choose from! There is also so much more information than there was before!
Today I’m sharing some items I use to make eating gluten free delicious and easy!
These items I have found and have used for years! They taste great and you won’t even miss the other items you used to use or eat.
But first let me not forget to share with you a post I did last year. The post is about going gluten free, I also share my story. It’s all about how I finally received a diagnoses and found out what was making me so sick!
Oh it took some time to figure out I had a wheat or gluten allergy! But you can read all about it in the post!
In my post there are also some great products I share and information about what you should look for when going gluten free.
You can read all about it here. https://houseofmar.com/going-gluten-free/
Also included is one of my favorite treat recipe with a printable!
I also shared some gluten free items I use in my recipes instead of non gluten free items.
Eating gluten free does not need to be hard. There are so many wonderful products available.
Today there are so many reasons a person may need or want to eat gluten free.
Did you know gluten causes inflammation in our bodies, well it does and it causes swollen joints, muscles, and achy joints! Which can cause a whole host of other health issues for us!
Many people with arthritus eat gluten free and feel so much better following this way of eating.
People that have skin issues such as psoriasis have said eating gluten free has helped heal their skin!
Studies are showing if a person has Esophagitis issues such as Gerd, Acid Reflux, EOE, Crohn’s disease along with many other autoimmune disease they could benefit from a gluten free life style.
I will be talking all about a gluten free lifestyle on my blog on Wednesday’s!
On my blog I also share gluten free recipes that I have created from some of my most favorite recipes. Usually on Wednesdays I share a gluten free recipe. Sometimes it’s a dessert or it could be a dish for dinner, I also share recipes for the holidays.
Gluten Free recipes can be found at the top of the blog under the tab that says gluten free cooking.
I’ve also talked about keeping my kitchen gluten free.
I have shared my pantry in stories on Instagram. My pantry is a gluten free pantry but with regular flours as well. Every item is labeled in my pantry, if it’s gluten free or if it’s not. This is so important to keep myself safe and healthy. I’ve shared before one of my son’s has nut, rice, and corn allergies. So for him to use gluten free flours would not be safe.
I keep regular flours labeled for my son so when he comes for a visit I have items to use to prepare him a different meal from my meal.
Soon a blog post is coming all about how I created my gluten free pantry. These pictures are from my pantry and each item is labeled in their own container. It’s very easy to see what is gluten free or what is not. This is really a must if your area shares gluten free and regular items.
Last year I really felt the need to set up an area in my home for all of our food products so I could safely label the items I use for cooking. I didn’t have a pantry so I created one.
Here is a post I did on how to create a budget pantry and what items I used to create my budget pantry. https://houseofmar.com/7-ways-to-create-a-budget-pantry/
I also keep my cooking utensils separate from non gluten free cooking utensils. This includes pot’s, pan’s , mixing bowls, and wooden spoons. I love to use wooden spoons for mixing and cooking but I keep mine separate.
Many times bowls, pans, and wooded spoons get scratches, light cracks, and little groves from use. It’s surprising how a little tiny spec of gluten can make one sick.
However I do find I cook more gluten free dishes these days then I use to. At first my family was not having it, now they don’t even know the difference. They will often ask me is this regular or gluten free. My two oldest son’s prefer my gluten free cakes and cookies over regular flour cakes and cookies!
The gluten free life style has helped me feel healthy again! I feel so passionate about this way of eating and want to share with you what I have discovered! This is a page where I share gluten free baking products I have found to taste just like non gluten free products. https://houseofmar.com/gluten-free-pantry-baking-items-i-use/?fbclid=IwAR3XMoCdARRTFairMxAoYhTTT1bP5ex18i2hlDmdcc0t0kK7VkGie8fYF0Y
Eating gluten free is not a diet for weight loss, in fact you could gain more weight if you over indulge! I can attest to this! I was so excited when they started bringing products into the grocery stores and when I was able to transform my recipes to gluten free! Although this way of eating is so much better for many of us it is not less calories. It can be the same or sometimes more!
I have read and talked with so many people through the years that say the gluten free life style has changed the lives for the good, mine included!
As I continue on this journey I will be updating my site with more information and products to share with you!
So stop back by on Wednesday’s because I’ll be sharing recipes and all about going gluten free! I’m calling it my Wheat less Wednesdays as my friend JJ suggested who also has a few wonderful blogs, you can catch her here https://thrivingwithless.com/blog/
I’ll have an Instagram page called Wheat less Wednesday’s where I’ll share what foods I create for that week!
I’ll also share any new products I find or anything that will benefit us with this journey of a gluten free life style!
If you are unsure if you have a gluten allergy or intolerance you should check with a medical professional. This article from the mayo clinic shares some symptoms and information about wheat allergy’s.https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/wheat-allergy/symptoms-causes/syc-20378897
I am not a medical professional only a gal trying to stay healthy with a gluten free life style and sharing what has helped me along my gluten free journey.
I hope to see you back here next Wednesday!!!
Wishes for a blessed week!
Mary Anne,
Maria
Hi Mary Anne, as a mom reading your article has been very helpful. I had no idea that people with esophagitis issues might benefit from a gluten free diet. I’ve always thought I felt better without wheat in my diet and try to avoid pasta and bread, but wondering if I should try to go gluten free now! Thank you for the information!

Thank you Maria, I hope the article gives a little incite for people that struggle with autoimmune issues or esophagitis issue, of course one should always speak with a medical professional for the best advice.
Have a great weekend!

I’m so excited about your Wheat Less Wednesday posts, Mary Anne!! I’ve dealt with autoimmune and digestive issues for over three decades and have even been tested for celiac disease with negative results. Going plant-based has helped a lot, but I still include lots of bread and other “healthy” foods that include gluten. I want to go gluten-free to see if that resolves the problem entirely, and will let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and your recipes!!
